DEFINITION OF EDUCATION

There are various definitions given by various  educationists and erudites.Basically education is a life long process as one have to learn the things whole life ,still there are some definitions of great importance.According to DICTIONARY OF EDUCATION which is edited by C.V GOOD,1973,education is defined as....
 "THE AGGREGATE OF ALL THE PROCESSES BY WHICH A PERSON DEVELOPS ABILITIES,ATTITUDES AND OTHER FORMS OF BEHAVIOUR OF PRACTICAL VALUES IN THE SOCIETY IN WHICH HE /SHE LIVES;THE SOCIAL PROCESSES BY WHICH THE PEOPLE ARE SUBJECTEDTO THE INFLUENCE OF SELECTEDAND CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT [ESPECIALLY THAT OF THE SCHOOL]
,SO THAT THEY MAY OBTAIN SOCIAL COMPETENCE AND OPTIMUM INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT."
As the education facilitates the learning. It is the acquisition of knowledge,.It improves individual
skills,it inculcate the values and foster the beliefs.Of course it is also a great tool for habit formation.There are many more definitions given by the scholars all around the world.

SO ,education is the systematic and organised process through which a child or an adult accquires knowledge,experience,skill and sound attitude.It makes an individual civilized,refined,cultured and educated.To be a civil and socialized person,education is must.

 What we come to know by having above discussion:------
  • Education is a continuous and comprehensive process.
  • It is both knowledge and experience.
  • It is both unilateral as well as bi-polar in nature.
  • It is the means to bring out the ideas of universal validity and which are latent in every man.
  • It develops man's faculty,especially his mind so that he can enjoy the supreme truth.
